A blank sailing refers to a cancelled sailing. This could mean a vessel not calling a specific port, or the entire loop being cancelled.The most common reason for a blank sailing is to reduce capacity in order to try to push the rates upwards. The last years carriers have been forced to much more blank sailings because of lots of congestion issues as well.
